Become an ACT Advocate and Stop Human Trafficking

Up to 87 percent of trafficked persons are seen by a healthcare provider without being identified as a victim of this estimated $32 billion illegal industry. As pediatric-focused APRNs, we are saying enough is enough. We need to ACT!

The Arizona NAPNAP chapter will be presenting a continuing education opportunity on sex trafficking in Spring 2020. NAPNAP Partners for Vulnerable Youth’s Alliance for Children in Trafficking (ACT) is recruiting PNPs, FNPs and other providers who want to become trained ACT Advocates. ACT Advocates commit to teaching fellow healthcare providers and community groups how to prevent and eliminate child sex and labor trafficking. Arizona’s local ACT Advocate is Deb Anderson.

The first step is to sign up to become an ACT Advocate. The sign up form lists training prerequisites, including the online or in-person ACT Advocate training, 3-PARRT (Providers Assessing Risk and Responding to Trafficking) online modules and other free online webinars and resources.

After completing our 2-3 hour online or in-person training workshop and other prerequisites, you will be a “qualified ACT Advocate” and can conduct the peer-to-peer grassroots education sessions at hospitals, clinics and primary care offices using the established ACT presentation and other materials. You may also conduct trainings for local/state healthcare conferences and other events, including those at schools, community groups, faith-based organizations, youth groups and others. ACT will provide you with the tools you need to market yourself and be successful as a qualified ACT Advocate.
